I continue a series of simple DIYs on decorative mesh embroidery, or 'cross for the lazy', as my friend called it :)
I will add that the contour of a decorative mesh can be completely different. Decorative mesh is usually a bright embroidery with large floral ornaments.
So, you need:
- fabric (I have flax)
- threads (floss, iris)
- needle with a wide eye
- scissors
- hoop
- ruler
- marker (I carefully used a pencil)
Before you stretch the net, draw lines on the fabric with the marker and ruler. The size of he squares may vary from 0.5 cm to 1 cm. Draw a square of 8 cm x 8 cm and mark the 1 cm squares.
Further, according to the pattern, pass the threads from top to bottom, then from left to right (or vice versa — doesn't matter). Do not put the thread along the contour of the square — at the end, it is embroidered with the straight stitch. You get such a net:
This is the base of the future pattern (usually it is performed with threads of dark tones). Then the intersection of the thread are fixed to fabric with pinning stitches.
In this embroidery, the net is attached with cross stitches of two colours. AT first, with yellow threads (the hearts of the future flowers). Make the stitches missing one square as follows:
Then, the rest of the crossing threads are fixed with green. You get such a mesh with right angles:
Now embroider the squares. The pattern consists of 3 stitches, laid diagonally parallel to each other (approximately at the same distance). Stitches extend from one corner of the square to another; the average stitch is long (the whole square), 2 stitches from the sides are shorter. In the first square, the stitches are turned left, then right, and alternate this way.
Fill the squares this way. When you run this pattern, there is one very important nuance. When you sew 2 short stitches (on the sides), try to push and pull the needle exactly opposite the same stitch in the next square. Then you'll have a very interesting "double" pattern with diamonds.
In conclusion, embroider the contour with a straight stitch. So, our embroidery is ready:
And finally, an example of item with the pattern — a canvas bag for herbs.
I really hope that my tutorial will be interesting and useful :) to be continued...
