I love candles and buy them in large quantity, and then many glasses remain and awaiting to be given a new life! :) In this tutorial I suggest decorating them with mosaics.
So!
You need:
1. Bases of used candles
2. Grout
3. Mosaic
4. Liquid nails — Moment Montage super strong transparent (there are two types: for nail gun and a simple tube, whatever you like)
5. Disposable paper towels
6. Wipes
7. Liquid for removing fat (I used L. O. C. for kitchen)
8. Rubber spatula (for grouting)
9. Plastic utensils (for dilution of the grout)
10. Toothpick (to remove excess of the glue)
To remove any remaining wax, put the glass under hot water stream. As soon as wax begins to trickle down, take a paper towel and remove it from the glass without problems.
Next, you need to degrease the glass, I do it using the kitchen L. O. C.
Select the desired colour and shape the mosaic.
Begin to glue the mosaic.
And the next rows...
Remove the excess of the glue with the toothpick.
Lay out mosaics on other glasses using the same method. It seemed to me that it might be more interesting to lay out mosaic on the glass just in some rows, not entirely.
Leave overnight to dry. When the glue dries, it becomes transparent.
After the glue dries out, begin to prepare the grout. Pour the desired amount of the dry mix in a plastic container. Add water and mix. The grout should resemble a 25% sour cream :)
The mix needs a few minutes to stand aside. Then again stir and begin to grout the seams with the spatula.
Because the joints are not deep, you can remove the excess of the grout in 10 minutes, I use wipes for this.
Note! Put the remains of the grout in a bag, do not throw it away or wash off, because a cement-based grout may make a clog.
The grout is dry by the evening, as the seams are thin at this step. It remains only to wipe it with a dry paper towel and all is done! :)
Thank you for your attention!
