I've kept this DIY for a long time in my chest. Now I decided to take it out and publish. Good thing must not get lost!
This is the first DIY that I publish at the Livemaster.
I apologize for the photo quality. The DIY was written in winter. I took the photos of products lighted by a fluorescent lamp... :)
The DIY is designed for experienced artisans who know the basic techniques of sewing, seed bead weaving and embroidering :)
But if you are good at any work at once, then you will make this brooch without problems! :)
Materials:
- Shibori silk ribbon 14 cm (cut in 2 pieces to of 7 cm);
- a Rivoli Swarovski rhinestone 14 mm of Crystal AB (001AB) color;
- Toho 11/0 seed beads, color PF2109 (milk dandelion);
- Toho 15/0(Mix50) seed beads, I chose the color of the beads matching the color of the ribbon;
- Drop Miyuki (250);
- Swarovski pearls 4 mm, 5810 Creamrose Light (04-618) color;
- a pear-shaped pendant. Swarovski Crystal AB (001 AB) will look perfectly
The base for embroidery — model felt (I have Lacy's Stiff Stuff), a round blank with a diameter of 2 cm. The felt should be dense. You can mark on the blank 2 orthogonal axes (or points for sewing on halves of the bow) and the center.
A blank for a brooch (a metal circle with a pin), diameter of 2.3 — 2.5 cm.
Nymo thread, size D, beige.
Hot glue.
Steps:
Weaving around the Rivoli rhinestone.
Put 30 seed beads of the size 11/0 on a thread, make a ring and weave 2 rows in a mosaic technique. Insert the rhinestone in the ring.
Weave the bottom side reducing the number of beads, but do not weave around the whole reverse side: the 1st row — 2 seed beads, skip one bead, 1 bead, skip one bead; the 2nd row — always 1 bead, pull the thread.
Go through the upper side with 2 rows of 15/0 beads in each bead, do not forget to pull the thread.
Put the needle through the beads and put it out to the edge of the rhinestone. Start to decorate the weaving around the Rivoli rhinestone.
The 1st row: use Swarovski pearls with the peaks of the 15/0 beads.
Upon completion you can take the thread between the beads, twisting it between the beads so the pearls do not "walk". In the future, the thread will hide and will not be visible.
The 2nd row: go to the next upper row and start decorating with Drop Miyuki (250) beads.
The 3rd row: go up to the top row of 11/0 beads and make peaks of the 15/0 beads — put on 4 beads, pass into the 4th, then pass the needle through the 11/0 beads.
The 4th row. Go to the 15/0 beads and make peaks of the same beads using 3 beads.
After finishing, the thread can be fixed or put on the bottom side.
A bow of Shibori ribbon:
Take one part of ribbon with a length of 7cm, fold it in half, put the edges of the end folds inside, (you can bend them a little more, the most important thing is that only the bends protrude and the edges are inside). Cinch the ribbon using a thread to the width of 1 — 1.2 cm.
Sew the first half of the bow to the felt base, closer to the center. Repeat the same process with the second part.
The final step:
Sew the rhinestone to the felt and the halves of the bow. This is probably the most laborious part of the work that requires utmost concentration. The rhinestone needs to be exactly in the center. The thread must accurately go through all of the layers!
Next, sew the pendant: put the thread out of the edge of the bow, put on 7 11/0 beads, a pearl, 5 seed beads, a drop pendant, 5 seed beads, pass the needle through the pearl, 7 seed beads, fix it to the second edge of the bow. Hide the ends of the thread.
Heat a glue gun, apply some glue in the center of the metal blank and glue on the base for a brooch.
Voila! Our wonderful and unusual brooch is ready! :)
Thanks for viewing and reading to the end! Constructive criticism and reviews are welcome :)
