How to Make a Tea Set out of Clay: a Ladle and Two Bowls

To diversify the daily ritual of morning tea, I offer to make an unusual tea set — not a kettle with cups but a ladle and cups. This is a better combination because you see the tea brewing, the leaves and flowers don't get into your cup and the ladle is simple washed that a kettle and a strainer.
You need the following materials and tools:
- Sibelco cream terracotta, or any other, 1200 g;
- beech handle of suitable size, and epoxy resin;
- edible glazes: yellow and brown;
- a rubber stack and metal spatulas;
- a potter's wheel and a kiln.
First, prepare the clay: take 700 grams for the ladle and 250 g for a cup. Make the bowl of the ladle, the bowls and the handle nest blanks on the wheel.
Let the blanks dry a little and then start shaping the spout of the ladle. The bowls could be decorated with stamps.
This is how I make the spout:
And the nest of the handle:
Insert the handle:
Make the stamp.
Then the ladle and bowls are drying and waiting for their turn in the oven. After firing, the set is glazed. I used a Botz glaze.
Put in the oven to fire. After cooling, glue the handle with liquid epoxy resin, wait for it to dry for a day, and the beautiful tea set is ready!
Have a nice morning tea!
