This time I want to introduce you to a great artist — Nikolai Gavrils! I will immerse you in his work and assure you that you will not remain indifferent! I spent many hours savoring the photos of his works and immersed in this atmosphere of wonderful forest, interlacing patterns and subtle graceful beauty!
Nikolai Gavris is a wood carving artist, he lives and works in the Crimea in a unique technique. The artist creates three-dimensional colored wood carving without the help of paints. Such work is similar to mosaic. When working on any products in the course there are several types of wood and only on its end parts. In the course of the story, you will see for yourself how it happens!
Once, working at a retail outlet, the future wood carving artist saw beautiful crafts brought by craftsmen from Transcarpathia. These crafts shocked him to the core! He wanted to try it himself. He bought the first chisels, materials, and everything turned out great. Since then, Nicholai only perfected his skills and reached the discovery of a new technique in wood carving.
The uniqueness of his technique is that he alone is engaged in carving in a cross-section of wood when creating multi-faceted, large compositions. Before him, other artists who worked in this technique, made their products from the same breed and in small sizes. This is confirmed by the fact that on the international site of wood carving, there are no more artists who are so masterly would own this technique in full. So far, no one has challenged his primacy.
Here is such a bookcase he has begun to create in 2011 and the work continues to this day. The project is already 9 years old! And this can be understood, because the creation of one small butterfly takes up to 6 weeks. It is clear that not everyone can afford such a cabinet. Only one piece of ebony the size of a pack of cigarettes costs about $200. The tree is delivered by airmail from Hawaii, where it grows.
Now let's take a closer look at the details.
Facades (doors) - 5 pieces.
And now in more detail the individual elements:
Look at those thin, almost transparent petals of flowers and feathers of birds!
It seems that just touch, and the butterfly will fly up from its place.
And the beetle will snap its jaws loudly! Isn't it like the real thing?
The most delicate flowers, almost transparent, bloom on the canvas of the tree.
Legs under the countertop from the Cabinet. It will be time for them to take their place of honor.
Incredible beauty!
At first I did not believe that all these color transitions are achieved by the natural color of wood, but let's look at the process of making this beautiful chameleon with one of the doors of the Cabinet.
The base of the chameleon was not made on the end, but then processed in accordance with the new technique for a month. For each hole, a piece of wood is selected. This is truly a jeweler's work!
In addition, Nicholai makes other interior items.
Panel:
Box:
Turtles-boxes that decorate the base of the countertop at the cabinet. Looks so real!
Even his jewelry is extraordinary! This necklace was given by him to his daughter.
Crest. This work is made to order, all the wishes of the future owner are taken into account. The coat of arms was made of oak with tinted, pure classical carving. Even before the introduction of face technology. Made in 2010.
Lampshade:
Nicholai makes furniture and lovely things for the interior. There are customers and it is joyful that there are connoisseurs of such beauty!
Unfortunately, all the photos do not fit in one article, and I would like to turn around!
All materials are taken on the Internet in open sources. Thank Nicholai, that advised me on the materials used and gave advice on what to see, what to read on his work!
And still I will add video where it is possible to get acquainted in more detail and in an interior with its long experiment-a handsome bookcase!
In this video you can see how the work went. It is shown in detail, down to the tubercles on the bodies of animals and birds.
I hope that you liked the art of Nikolai Gavris!
With love for creativity, Yana.
