In this tutorial we will remind you how to use epoxy resin and once again prove that you can fill anything with it! That it is not difficult! That the result (if you follow the instructions) is always interesting and unusual!
Many artists certainly have a treasured box with natural materials, now is the time to get it!
If in a fit of cleaning you have deprived yourself of treasures, do not worry. You can buy a great sea mix in our store, or come up with some more interesting "fillings".
I'd like to draw your special attention that if you want to pour organic materials with resin, make sure that they are washed and dried! It is a very important condition that the resin is not clouded over time from the formation of a "new life" in it.
Next step: we create the design of your pendant and make frame to fill. It can be wire or pin. Do not be afraid if the material is too plastic (soft or medium softness), in the future it will fix the hardened resin, from this it will become noticeably tougher.
We used 0.8 mm gold plated silver wire.
If you are no longer a beginner, work with wire made of precious metals, sterling silver or gold-plated sterling silver. We make frames with the help of improvised materials, tools and imagination. Better to do a little more than a framework, because the resin tends to stay, make sure not a single gram is wasted. You can stock up on ready-made wooden blanks for pouring.
We made the frames of different shapes, including rectangular. Interestingly, in this basis, the long tail of wire will serve as the hook for earrings.
To make such frames in advance, cut two pieces of wire of the same length — we have about 14 cm. Bend at right angles repeating the shape and size.
Frames are not difficult to do, just wrap the wire around the marker, if you want a round or teardrop-shaped frame. If you need a right angle, then standard tools, smooth thin pliers or platypuses with smooth sponges will help to make it, so as not to damage the coating of the wire.
For closed loop we made soldered frame. Silver soldering is suitable for uncoated wire (silver, brass, copper). Gold-plated wire and coated wire for soldering will not work.
Soldered frames are approximately of the same size. If you do not solder, just tightly fit the wire so that there is no gap and that the resin does not leak out.
Brazed frames look more complete and reliable. Although this is only a visual effect. The reliability of the soldering design is not affected.
On the working surface (tile, cutting board or any flat panel) we pasted tape. Attention! Sticky side out. Fixed a tight ring on the back of the tile. Try to pull the tape smoothly, without waves and skew. The resin does not adhere well to polyethylene. We use this feature to easily remove the workpiece from the tape later.
Carefully lay out our preparations.
TIP: Do not put them close to each other, the resin can "escape" and the workpiece stick together.
Tightly press the mold to the tape, for example, as we did with the handle of pliers.
All preparation is better to do in advance. Think about how you will stack the decor in the frame, lay out a sketch on paper, it helps to put everything in the exact place, because to change the composition stuck to the tape will not be easy. For accurate application, use tweezers, so you minimize contact with the sticky layer and will be able to more accurately position the filling.
If you have a pair of symmetrical pendants, we recommend to lay the decor on them alternately.
Please note that the resin should be poured in the place where you can leave it until solidification. It is desirable that the surface of the table was aligned to the level. It is highly undesirable to move the surface on which we have placed our pendants. Resin can drain, pour over the edge of the suspension. If the resin has leaked out of the frame, wipe the liquid with a cotton swab, which perfectly absorbs the resin. Periodically check your workpieces during the polymerization process. It is very convenient when the workpiece is covered with a transparent container and you can follow the process without lifting the lid and notice the leak in time.
Next, the resin was prepared according to the instructions, left a container with a mixed resin for degassing (removing air bubbles) and a set of viscosity. At this time, the surface with our templates and containers with the resin better than any cover (container, carton) from dust, lint, pet hair, from all that we want to preserve for posterity in our resin. If your decor is difficult, then make the first casting compound while it is still liquid, the resin is penetrated into all the small details. And after a few hours, when the viscosity of the resin will cause the dome, pour another layer.
When resin has frozen, remove the suspension with a sticky layer of tape.
On the reverse side, our straw appeared to be frosted? Do not be afraid, this adhesive layer of tape. Gently get rid of it with patience, cotton buds and white spirit. Work in well-ventilated areas.
If the resin is still a little poured outside the frame, it is easy to fix. All the resin flows can be removed carefully with the help of files, nail files and sandpaper. Try to act carefully so as not to leave rough marks on the wire frame.
It looks like the reverse side of the wooden frame after removing the tape from the first fill. On the reverse side there may be cavities and bubbles that will fill with resin. The final stage of pouring is covering the back side so that there is a beautiful transparent lens on both sides. Dilute the resin according to the instructions. Scotch no longer need us, we want to keep is glossy hardened lens that we so tenderly did the first fill. Therefore, put on the tile tight package or stationery file. Our pendants are laid wrong side up and fill the back side!
Most often in our resin bubbles there is no. In this case it was necessary. Tinker to fill the resin layers with air bubbles. So pendants look more alive and picturesque.
The highest transparency of "water" and charming air bubbles rising from the bottom of the sea. I think that we coped with the task perfectly!
In these soldered the fundamentals of long tails of wire was bent in bleisure. Pendants have become self-sufficient earrings and no extra assemblies.
It remains the most enjoyable.Collect earrings, pendants, and other beauty in a unique, unique author's decoration. To attach the pins and bale on the same epoxy.
Augment your suspension at will by the stones. pearls, accessories.
