To create an unusual, abstract picture it is unnecessary to be a professional artist. Fluid Art technique allows everybody to dream and create. Just look at these paintings. They are all made by beginners.
Fluid Art is a technique of drawing with liquid acrylic paints. Paint is made liquid on purpose. Then it is applied on canvas, where it spreads, forming a bizarre shape. It is interesting that the picture will always be different, because you never know how acrylic paints may go, how colours will mix and what effect you will get.
Good news is that Fluid Art technique does not require drawing skills. Even a child can handle it. So, to create a picture, you will need:
- acrylic paints;
- canvas;
- thinner for acrylic paints;
- disposable cups to mix paints.
Put on an apron and disposable gloves, because the work is quite messy : ) Mix acrylic paints with thinner in a cup, so that the consistency is close to liquid sour cream. Prepare different colours of acrylic paints. Then pour paint from the cup on canvas abruptly and move it on the surface. Allow the paint to flow. Do the same with other colours. When all the prepared paint is on canvas, tilt the work in different directions gently for acrylic paints to spread.
You can let your imagination flow and spray a little oil or silicone on paint, then there will be such cells.
You can also sprinkle your picture with glitter and touch canvas with a stick. You will get even more intricate pattern.
Sea art is especially good in this technique…
The picture with liquid acrylic paints is dry in about a day or two. Then you can coat it with acrylic lacquer. Here you go!
How do you like this idea? Personally, I go get acrylic paints and thinner to try Fluid Art technique myself!
