Krupenichka used to be created immediately after harvest. Its task was to keep the best grain until the next planting season. But there is another deeper meaning: to preserve and enhance all what is valued in a family.
Take all you see in the picture below:
- white cotton fabric (25 x 65 cm)
- red cotton fabric (29 x 8 cm)
- orange fabric with a pattern (29 x 8 cm) for skirts
- Burgundy wool felt for a coat (29 x 7cm)
- bright strips of cotton cloth (19 x 3 cm), 3 pieces
- bright green cotton for an apron (9 x 7.5 cm), pale green (8 x 6.5 cm), multicoloured (7.5 x 5.5 cm)
- red cotton triangle (the base of 60 cm + height of 15 cm) for shawl
- green buckwheat (approximately 450 g) for filling the doll
- red thread
- Iris thread for the belt
- beads
- locket / spoon / key pendant
In addition, you need:
- a sheet of thin cardboard 25 x 25 cm
- double sided tape
- elastic for money
- iron
Ready? So, start!
Note. Folk dolls are made from natural materials only. And green buckwheat — is important, it can still grow.
Note. No needle is used. All fabric should be cut beforehand, all excess is folded up.
Make a cardboard tube, it will help us.
The base of Krupenichka — a bag of buckwheat.
Wrap the cardboard tube with a fabric and get 2 overlapping layers.
One side is wrapped clockwise with the red thread, then an even number of knots is tied (I make two), the excess are torn off.
Now carefully remove the cardboard tube, turn the blank outside in and insert the tube inside again.
Pour.
Leave 1 cm, take out the tube, slightly shake the bag and tie the same way.
Wrap fabric with the red thread (always clockwise), making an even number (always) of knots. The buckwheat bag is ready!
Wrap the blank with the red cloth. Fasten with the thread.
Fold the fabric back. Thus, a shirt is put on :) Add poneva (a kind of a skirt) and fold it back, too.
Put on a coat:
To do this, the edges of felt are rolled from each side and then tied to the doll. I use elastic for that: first, form the sleeves, then apply his coat to the doll and fix it temporarily with the elastic. And then gently wind the red thread and tie knots.
Remove the elastic. Here's what you get by now:
Place all cloths for the apron one on another.
Put it on the doll the same way.
Take cloth for the headdress. The traditional headdress of a married woman consisted from several layers.
I prefer to put all cloths together and tie them on the doll at once.
Cloth form the longest side is folded at about half a centimeter, smooth.
Tie the shawl. See that all folds are placed symmetrically. The ends are hidden underneath.
You need some time to learn how to do it, so relax and try.
Everything will work! :)
