Yarilo (Yarila, Yarovit, Yaromir) is Slavic god of violent passion, uncontrollable force, god of spring and blossoming of all vital forces of the person. Yarilo was considered younger of solar gods (the ambassador Dazhboga and Horsa), Yasuney and in generation "gods-grandsons" entered a pantheon (according to other God the Son version). Was Dodola and Velez's illegitimate son.
In system of religious beliefs of our ancestors of Yarilo god became the embodiment of the spring sun which has just left cold embraces of winter (Mary). Therefore unrestrainedness, sincerity, purity were distinctive features of character of this god. He personified the revived sun full of the vivifying energy necessary for all terrestrial beings. Certainly, the statement about that, Yarilo is god of the sun also is absolutely true. Just unlike Hors (the winter sun) and Dazhboga (the summer sun) of Yarilo was the embodiment of the sun spring. Yarila's arrows at the same time addressed sunshine and according to some sacral symbolics of this god could be regarded as darts of love.
But the steadiest association of Yarila is a spring. In all her beauty and magnificence. And as we see, absolutely not for nothing the cultures put towards the spring, Slavs called "summer". And the sowed wheat field was called as "yaritsa".
