In West Slavic mythology the "god of gods" mentioned by Gelmold and Sakson Grammatikon. Sventovit — the highest god, it is connected with war and victories; his attributes — the sword, a banner, fighting badges including representing an eagle and a spear. The cult center of Sventovit — the chetyryokhstolpny temple in the Baltic-Slavic city of Arkona. Symbolical color of Sventovit — red: his temple has been topped with a red roof, in the pagan temple there was a purple curtain, in chests — a set of purple clothes. The white sacred horse at Sventovit's temple after night was covered with dirt: believed that at night he left for fight against enemies. At fortune-telling of a horse brought to three rows of copies and if he stumbled on the left leg, it was considered as an evil omen if went from the right leg — kind. Answers of the oracle Sventovita were considered as the most powerful. Sventovit's idol had four heads located on the right, in front and behind (this description is compared with a chetyryokhglavy Zbruchsky idol) that Sventovita and his chetyryokhstolpny temple with four-membered allows to correlate (the North — the South — the West — the East) world model in Slavic mythology. Sventovit's Chetyryokhchlennost finds numerous parallels in other traditions with chetyryokhglavy deities or the fours of gods, guardians of the countries of light. The name of Sventovit, obviously, represents an epithet. There are bases to think of deep communication of Sventovit with the initial Thunderer (see Perun) in whose image military function is especially emphasized (an epithet "Saint" belongs, in particular, to the Balt. Perkunasu).
