A Claddagh ring (also found in the Claddagh ring, a Claddagh ring (eng. Claddagh ring)) is a type of traditional Irish ring that is presented as a sign of friendship, and is also used as wedding rings.
The first ring in this design was made in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh in County Galway. The ring shows two hands holding a heart topped with a crown. The heart symbolizes love, hands — friendship (trust) and the crown, loyalty (loyalty).
Irish engagement rings often have an inscription (IRL.) " Gr?, Dilseacht, agus Cairdeas" (love, loyalty and friendship); sometimes it is placed on cladistic the rings, which is one of the personifications of this motto.
During the Irish potato famine, many Irish were forced to leave their country, and a Claddagh ring together with the immigrants spread throughout the United States of America. At present, a Claddagh ring is widely known outside of Ireland. Claddagh rings are worn as a sign of friendship or betrothal. There are the following nuances:
* If the ring is worn on the right hand with the heart facing in the direction from its owner (i.e. the fingertips), it says that the owner of the ring, the Claddagh is in search of his love.
* If the ring is worn on the right hand and the heart facing the owner of the ring, it indicates that the owner of the ring is in a love relationship.
* Ring on his left hand with the heart turned to its owner, is considered a wedding.
Later came a fourth way of wearing a ring on his left hand, the heart from the carrier. So it is worn according to different sources, during the wedding ceremony (as a sign that the hearts of the bride and groom looking to each other), engaged, widowed, and divorced.
