Jubilee Popovka. A sewing machine. The year 1895

Dresden mechanic Bruno Naumann and entrepreneur Emil Seidel started manufacturing sewing machines in 1868. In the early years, the cars were made under an American license, and then Naumann improved the design. Seidel later withdrew from the business, but his name remained in the company's name.. At the end of the nineteenth century, it produced up to 80 thousand cars per year. Since 1870, Naumann sewing machines have been sold in the Russian Empire. At that time, the Popov Trading House occupied the dominant position in the sewing machine market in the country, it bought machines in Germany and sold them on the territory of the Russian Empire under the trademarks Seidel & Naumann, Singer, The Popov Spouses, Singer and Popov.
The Jubilee Popovka was released to mark the 25th anniversary of the collaboration of the German company Seidel & Naumann with the Popov Trading House. The machines with the patented festive design were named "popovka" and "beloruchka" because of the white ceramic handle of the drive. These family-use cars in the Russian Empire were sold only through Popovs. The trading house distributed them in Persia, for which the Persian Shah Nasruddin awarded the Popov partnership with the Order of the Lion and the Sun.

Academician, scientist and Nobel Prize winner Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was the firstborn in the family, and his sister Lydia was the last child. There was a 25-year difference between them and 8 children, of whom only three survived. It was the younger sister Lidia Petrovna Pavlova who inherited the Pavlovsky house in Ryazan after her father's death and owned it until 1927.
