About the icon: Simeon Stylite (Greek: ΣυμεώΝ ὁ στυλίτης; circa 2 — September 459, 37) was a Syrian Christian monk, the founder of a new form of asceticism — stylization. He is famous for having spent 1 years on the pillar in fasting and prayer, as well as other ascetic feats. He was a preacher, according to his life, he received from God the gift to heal mental and bodily diseases, to foresee the future.
He is venerated in the face of the venerable in the Orthodox (commemoration of September 5 according to the Julian calendar) and Catholic (commemoration of January ) churches.
