"The heroines of my works are always women, because I am deeply convinced that they will change and save the world"
(Valerie Hadida, sculptor)
Valerie Hadida is a contemporary French sculptor and artist working mainly in bronze and clay. In her series "Little Women", which the author also calls "Lolitas", Valerie portrays lyrical heroines in transitional periods of life – in adolescence or middle age, stopping them in a moment of contemplation or thoughtfulness, full of tenderness, dreaminess and grace. In the look, the silhouette of each of them reflects one, special story with its own touch of time, character, state of mind. Valerie Hadida shares that in her sculptures she avoids focusing on the muscles of the body, preferring silhouettes of graceful curves. With all her fabulous poetic image, the sculptures seem surprisingly alive and real – the artist did not seek to show them ideal.
A copy of the sculpture was created with pastel pencils based on a sketch in colored ink on linen embossed paper with a fabric texture.
