The chest with the porch is made "to order" and as a test of production technologies.
In the process of creating the product, goals and objectives were set to improve the strength and stability of the structure, to change for the better its (design) consumer properties and appearance.
Abandoning the standard connection "in a quarter" and changing the way of binding the corners to the spike connection "Dovetail", it became possible to manufacture the parts of the body and lid separately, which in turn made it possible to give a full-fledged porch on the body and lid, without engaging in any kind of emulations of this very porch.
In addition, the model received a cut-in bottom made of plywood 12 mm thick, along a groove half a tree deep.
This change in the design contributes to increased stability with seasonal and temperature fluctuations in the geometry of wood.
In addition, aesthetically, the Dovetail connection looks just great. The parabola of the dome is smoothed, which makes the interior space under the lid more "functional", increasing the capacity of the chest.
And yet, the chest received a podium with legs, also connected to a spike joint. The legs of the podium are reinforced with inserts on the inside to increase strength.
