The wedding cake consists of four open rings, woven in pairs into two eights. As you know, the Slavs, like other cultures, saw the number 8 as a symbol of infinity and the cycle of natural phenomena, constant movement and transition of states. The presence of two eights in the symbol suggests that the Wedding signifies the union of two, each of which carries the duality of the divine principle (body and spirit). The openness of the rings also suggests that it is important for a young family not to lock themselves in their small cell, but to remember about their kind – about their ancestors and descendants. The four sides into which the rings look also represent the past, the future, the present and the unified time.
