... Bedouins not only blacken their eyelashes and eyebrows, following the example of Moorish women, but try to paint their eyelids so that their eyes look like blackened ones. Finally, to top off the toilet, they rub their face and hands with a red powder obtained from a herb called genne and with which they make a big bargain. Bedouins dress in coarse woolen dresses that they weave themselves. Their head is wrapped in a shawl, hiding the back of the head, falling on both sides of the face, and thrown over their shoulders. They wear gold, silver, and sometimes tin (depending on the condition of each) mugs on their hands and on their feet, or rings that look like collars, so that when several Bedouins go together, you might think that they are leading chained criminals. But the necessary decoration is tattooing almost the entire body...
