Since Kitsune in Japanese is just a fox, it was fair to add "yokai" (demon, demon, supernatural creature from Japanese mythology).

Interestingly, Kitsune came to Japanese culture from China, where it is called Hu-yao or Huli-ching.
In Korea, there is also a fox-spirit - Kumiho (literally "nine-tailed fox")

The demon fox has up to 9 tails. It is known from various sources that every 100 or 1000 years a Kitsune grows one tail.
