About the icon : Original icon: late 17th-early 18th century. Now it is stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

This plot is known in Russian art in wall paintings, on icons, in splint pictures. It first appeared in the XVII century, when in 1666 a collection of sermons by Bishop Lazar of Chernigov and Novgorod "The Spiritual Sword" was published in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. " The Ship of Faith " was placed on the title page of the book, representing not a separate engraving, but part of a more extensive composition".

In the icon we see on her ship with a mast in the form of the Orthodox cross, led by Jesus Christ, surrounded by apostles, martyrs, and religious teachers.
