Carnival clips, iris glass, Czechoslovakia.
In Iris Glass, there are always three shades-blue, green and red, as if enclosed in an icy colorless crystal. They can be arranged in the form of brightly outlined spots or delicate watercolor blots, where the blurred color smoothly passes into one another, or in the form of thin multi-colored threads "stretched" along the crystal parallel to each other. The effect of color spots was achieved by using a set of chemical processes, as a result of which thin layers of metal oxides appeared in the glass mass, which painted the glass in different colors.
This amazing glass was produced in the city of Gablonz (now Jablonec nad Nisoy, Czech Republic) - the largest glass center of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from the end of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century. The heyday of the popularity of iris glass fell on the era of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, so many decorations with it have features characteristic of these styles.
Now the technology of manufacture of such glass lost.
