Psalter and Theotokos of the Mother of God set (leather book)

Orthodox people have long venerated the Most Holy Theotokos. They express their gratitude and love to the Mother of the Savior of Humanity in prayers, akathists, and prayer chants. The reverent love of the people prompted St. Demetrius of Rostov (it is to him that the "folk hymnography" unanimously gives the authorship) to create a collection entirely devoted to the glorification in honor of our Zealous Intercessor. For this prayer, the saint took as a prototype the Psalter of King David, which is why we traditionally call the prayers collected here hymns. Offered for domestic glorification, about which Christian humility does not leave the spiritual father in ignorance, these psalms can become a source of hot penitential tears and, at the same time, deep consolation, given as a pledge of the special intercession of our Most Holy Lady Theotokos.
