The history of a famous master in Belgium Hubert Bequet begins in 1926, when he began his career at the factory for the production of ceramics Auguste Mouzin et Cie (AMC). Each work was unique with the master's signature marking. Later in 1934, he set up his own faience factory in Quaregnon Belgium, using the knowledge accumulated over the years at AMC.
The peak of the plant's success was in 1963, when it employed 150 workers, but eventually the plant closed its doors due to various problems. Full closure occurred in December 1982.
Hubert Bequet himself, however, continued to produce ceramics in a small workshop called The Ceramics of Borinage until April 1985, when it was closed for good.
We can say that the factory La Faiencerie Hubert Bequet was one of the few ceramics factories in Belgium that successfully combined creativity and mass production of faience. He made a great contribution to the development of ceramic craftsmanship in Europe and in the smallest Belgium.
