Rotifer and the Tree of life

Kolovrat is not only a beautiful piece of jewelry, but also a symbol that had a sacred meaning for our ancestors. It is often called the main symbol in the mythology of the ancient Slavs. And this is not surprising, because Kolovrat represented the sun, as well as the constant change of day and night. Our ancestors traced this cyclical pattern throughout: darkness always ended with dawn, and life always ended with death. Therefore, we are talking not only about the solar image, but also about the projection of the Universe.

The ancient Slavs believed that if a person wears a rotifer, he receives the support of all the gods, who provide him with protection and patronage in all endeavors.

Initially the rotifer consisted of four rays. This is considered to be a classic. It was believed that the four-ray Kolovrat represents the unity of the four elements or seasons. However it is not uncommon to see images of the sun with six or eight lines. Their meaning does not differ from the traditional version, marking the cyclical nature of the Universe.
