A bit of history:
In 1871, Bernhard Bloch founded the company B. Bloch & Col, located in Eichwald, Bohemia ( in the Czech Republic). The company produced decorative, household and table porcelain and faience.
B. Bloch was a major producer of majolica, one of the few Bohemian companies to continue producing majolica after the First World War.
In 1920, the company became the Eichwald Porcelain and Kiln Factory Bloch & Co. ( Eichwalder Porzellan- und Ofenfabrik Bloch & Co.). The name was changed again in 1940 to Eichwald Porcelain, Stove and Tile Factory Dr. Widera & Co. (factory for the production of porcelain, ovens and wall panels Eichwalder Dr. Widera & Co.). The Germans took control during World War II.
After the Second War, the Eichwald porcelain, Stove and Tile Factory named after. Widera & Co., together with the Dux porcelain manufactory and the Count Thun porcelain factory in Klosteri, were nationalized by the Czechoslovak government.
