Icons: Nicholas

Saint Nicholas of Myra (CA. 270 – CA. 345) is revered by all Christian denominations. He is popularly known as Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Nicholas the Saint; it was he who became the prototype of the fairy-tale Santa Claus for his actions, and the icon of St. Nicholas the Saint is certainly in every Orthodox Church. In Russia, he became the most popular and most revered Saint, no wonder the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker takes second place in the number of churches after the mother of God.
