The brooch is made in a rare technique NEO Plique ajour-stained liquid glass, a la cold enamel Plique Openwork French Art nouveau. Cloisonne Plique-a-Jour - French for "letting in daylight", is the technique of vitreous enamel when the enamel on cloisonné cell, like a simple cloisonne Clusone (cloisonne), but in final form - without a bottom, in order for light to pass through transparent or translucent glass enamel. It is, in fact, a miniature version of stained-glass Windows and is considered technically very difficult to implement.
