______________________________________________________________One of the most famous porcelain manufactories in the world is the Capo di Monte factory.». It was founded in 1743 by the Neapolitan King Charles III, and was located in the palace of Capo di Monte (near Naples), where the name Capodimonte came from. The factory worked for a very short period (13 years, until 1759), but it did not close, but was simply moved to Madrid: Charles III then became king of Spain, and he had to move to the capital – Madrid, and with him he took 40 of the best masters of the factory, all models and forms. The factory was reopened in Buon Retiro (not Madrid, after all, but very close to it), Spain. The products of "Capo di Monte" (aka "porcelain Capodimonte", "Capo di Monte", "Capo di Monte") were first made of soft porcelain. Those first products were strongly influenced by Mei Sen. The production began with the experiments of the chemist L. O. Shepers, who improved the composition of soft porcelain, the sculptor D. Grichi and decorator D. Casella. The assortment was very large: from dishes and vases to snuffboxes, inkwells and watches. All of them were made in the Rococo style. The second period is associated with biscuit products, the beginning of the use of hard porcelain and neoclassicism, which especially influenced the shape of the product . Capo di Monte porcelain is one of the best representatives of Italian art (like Venetian glass), and even today many porcelain manufacturers still produce products "in the style of Capodimonte».
