Traditional glass beads from Ghana, or Krobo beads, are the main area of production of the Krobo highlands. Ghanaian beads are made from recycled glass. Bottles and other glass items are first washed and sorted by color.To create translucent beads with a pattern the glass is crushed into fragments. To make transparent glass beads crushed in a metal mortar pestle to a state of dust,several times and sieved to get very fine powder. For color use ceramic dyes and various pigments.
