Again, my favorite style is "chinoiserie", but this time the theme for the plot is not quite the usual one.
Quite a rare genre, for aesthetes who appreciate traditional classics, but want to bring something like that into it-elements of "Chinatown", bright, mysterious and mystical East.
So, get acquainted. Singerie ("senjeri", from the French singe - monkey) is an image of monkeys dressed in "human" clothes, in my case, in elegant medieval outfits, and engaged in the usual "human" affairs.
Initially, the style was turned to social satire. Who, if not a monkey, cunning and quarrelsome, "expose" human weaknesses, copying our gestures and facial expressions .
The" reading "of the monkeys here is quite" eastern». In China, as you know, the monkey is very revered, it is a symbol of wisdom, a lively flexible mind, curiosity, and a sense of humor.
And, in general, the collection turned out to be bright, luxurious, rich in colors, but still in a softer, elegant European perception, as it should be for chinoiserie.
A bit of history.
The myth of magical China "Senjeri" was born in France, in the 18th century, as the direction of "chinoiserie", which means "high", an artistic imitation of all Chinese. Then Rococo reigned in the interiors, and all aristocratic Europe was passionately fond of Chinese porcelain, vases and statuettes. Rococo and Chinoiserie period-an era of fun and joy.
I must say, "Chinatown" has never gone out of fashion. The exoticism of the East has always attracted Europeans like a magnet. And today, the "global Chinese expansion" continues.
Artists and decorators turn again and again to the aesthetics of chinoiserie, and subtle decorative images of China become a source of new topical motifs for porcelain painting.
Royal colors in the interior
The main colors of the collection are purple and gold, a "royal" combination that has been worked out for centuries. Purple has historically been associated with royalty and wealth. The elitism of the color is associated with the Rococo style, and with the fact that in the Middle Ages, it was a rare and therefore expensive dye, however, as today - one of the most expensive colors in the overglaze palette.
Painting in the style of its perfect for classic interiors, but funny monkeys can give even the classics rich visual lightness.
Who finished reading, that well done!!!
