Description
The subject of Christ's conversation with the Samaritan woman is one of the most common images of early Christian art. When depicting it, they literally follow the gospel text, placing the figure of a woman at the well, taking a vessel of water from it, and on the other side of the well, Jesus Christ, talking with a woman.
According to tradition, the Samaritan woman who conversed with Christ at the well of Jacob devoted her entire life to the preaching of the gospel of Christ. The Holy Church celebrates her memory on March 20 (April 2, n. a.). Her name: Holy Martyr Photina (Svetlana) of Samaria (a Samaritan).
This panel is based on the painting "Christ and the Samaritan woman" by the academician of the Imperial Academy of arts.. Semiradsky (1843-1902) and can be a wonderful gift to a person who loves and understands art. As well as an aesthetic and spiritual decoration of any home or office.
The carved panel is made of high-quality solid wood (European maple) in the technique of relief wood carving with reusable application of various tones by artistic wiping. Patina made with geografa.
