"Ruslan and Lyudmila" by Pushkin is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, which absorbed the spirit of Russian fairy tales.
Probably very many artists would like to portray Lyudmila in the gardens of Chernomor. The prototype of my fairy-tale Princess was a daughter, strolling through the Botanical garden on a distant tropical island. In my imagination tropics are closely intertwined with fairy tales, and in the happy days of travel to overseas countries, I certainly imagined myself in enchanted gardens, on the shores of the blue sea in the far away Kingdom.
