One of the first paintings of the Tahitian period of Paul Gaugiun 'Ta Matete' (Market Day, or Today we do not go to the market). The painter combines the image of static and rigid female figures seated in line, which resemble the relieves of the Egyptian ancient temples, with the bright colors of the exotic environment of Tahiti. The extraordinary fusion of the two primitive sources in the painting of the great French artist.
The image is executed in the appliqué technique with the leather pieces of different colors. The details are partially painted with acrylic colors.
