Textile is a material with many faces. In the hands of an English needlewoman, Zara Merrick, scraps of fabric are transformed into colourful paintings with images of birds — from owls to budgies.
She often uses vintage materials from her own collection, which is constantly filled up with new pieces from French and English fairs. Zara says: "I like watching a blank transforming into something tangible, filled with a variety of textures and patterns."
It takes about a month to fully implement a work of 70 cm height. But the result is definitely worth it! "Sometimes I wonder myself how I manage to create something like that", says Zara. "And love for art makes me not stop there."
