Vintage No. 4. Spanish leather.
This fragrance was inspired by the description of the perfume "Peau d'Espagne" (Spanish leather) in 1910 in the books of Amanda Aftel (Essence and Alchemy: A Book of Perfume) and the memoirs of Peter Altenberg, who was the personification of turn-of-the-century bohemia:
"As a child, I found an empty bottle in the drawer of my mother's wonderfully beautiful desk, made of mahogany and crystal, in which there was still a strong aroma of some perfumes that were unknown to me. I often snuck inside and sniffed it. I associated this fragrance with all existing love, tenderness, friendship, longing and sadness."
As a basis, I took the components that were described by Amanda in her book about the ancient cologne Peau d'Esradpe from the Florentine pharmacy Santa Maria Novella in 1910. This fragrance was originally used to flavor leather, or rather to flavor leather gloves, handbags, purses, because leather products had a very bad smell after dressing.
I reinterpreted the fragrance in a new way, taking into account botanical perfumes (without the use of animal components). In general, it turned out to be a beautiful composition with a vintage bias: multi-layered, deep, with history and charm.
Fragrance: floral, leather, smoky, spicy.
Composition: neroli, rose, sandalwood, lavender, verbena, bergamot, cinnamon, vanilla, tonka bean, styrax, geranium, cedar, toluan balm, cardamom, amber accord.
Contains only natural aromatic ingredients.
