This icon is a list of the icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God, in Karpovka in the Ioannovsky monastery.
The history of the icon is very interesting .The original icon was painted on canvas by the priest John Smirnov, in a monastery located in Poland. .1908. The monastery was under the spiritual care of St. Nicholas.John Of Kronstadt.
A few years after the death of father John, during the German war, after the evacuation of the Western region, where the Lesninsky monastery was located, some of his sisters among 40 people found shelter in the Annex of the John's monastery. For a long time it remained a mystery when exactly the image of the Cover from Lesna was brought to St. Petersburg and where it was located for many decades. But by God's wonderful Providence, the icon associated with the memory of father John came to the monastery of his name, where it was wonderfully renewed. Before the consecration of the main monastery Church in honor of the Twelve Apostles (July 1991), the nun sisters asked the parishes to donate icons. When the abbess and the Treasurer arrived at the Nikolskaya Church in Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery, they were shown to the room where the old images were stored, requiring restoration, and offered to choose any. Mother Seraphim noticed a large icon with a semicircular finish that stood between the shelves and picked it up. On a canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher, it was difficult to distinguish the figure Of the mother of God holding Her Veil. The icon was brought to the monastery and placed in the altar of the temple of the Cathedral of the Twelve Apostles – in its shape it fit one of the altar niches. Soon after Easter, the altar girl noticed that the Face of the virgin on the icon of the Intercession brightened. Then the image began to be gradually updated from top to bottom, from the Face to the piles of the mother of God. The clergy saw how every day a small section of the icon brightened, the colors became bright and saturated, and small cracks grew over themselves. By Pentecost almost the entire image had been updated. The icon went from dirty gray to sky blue. The mother of God herself shone with unearthly beauty.
At the request of the customer, my icon of the Intercession was written on a Board with a repetition of the arched shape of the icon and decorated with hand-made coinage with colored enamel. The color of the enamels is matched to the image, but can be changed at will. All details (Image, shape and size of the Board, chasing, gilding, enamel) are discussed. The price varies depending on the variants of the icon.
