When my wife Irina was a child, her mother has brought a gift from the Baltics for someone – a decorative clay panel in a wooden frame. It depicted some sort of a domestic scene, but she could no longer remember the details. Irina wanted me to make something similar. Her request was for a grandpa and grandma next to a samovar. This was in the beginning of the 90’s. Since them my wife gives me a subject and I sculpt it. On the eve of year 2000 we have made a nativity scene – I sculpted while my wife stitched the clothing. All the faces were made to look like some of our friends. And these friends recognized themselves! At present my wife is in to felting and I think it comes out pretty awesome!
We were not selling our polymer clay products, but were giving it all away as gifts. Whatever was left - we exhibited at the Fair. At Vernissage we sold pieces made of plaster and it went quite well. At the end, we only had two pieces left.
Now both of us are retired and have decided to participate at the Craftsman Fair.
